Brunch with a view

If you’ve lived in this region, a brunch is probably something you’ve been to. For the unacquainted, it is a combination of breakfast and a hearty lunch spread over approximately four hours. From noon till about 4pm. Most brunches are held on Fridays -- the weekend for residents here. There is no shortage of food and beverage in most venues. Some brunches organise activities for families with children.

We visited the brunch held at Park Regis hotel in their restaurant called Kris with a View. True to its name, the view was certainly one of the best highlights. It is located on the 19th floor of the hotel. One can gaze at the heart of Dubai with its metro and iconic landmarks in the far distance.
There are a lot of venues in this exciting city that have stood the test of time. For me, these are establishments that are worth visiting time and again. As the venue filled in, it didn’t take long to realise that this brunch is particularly popular with a lot of visitors. A live band played some soulful tunes while families and friends gathered around.

Kris with a View serves an assortment of Pan-Asian foods. A sushi counter, breakfast table and Thai foods were on offer to guests. There was also a live lobster tank at the venue. Particularly interesting was a sausage station with at least three varieties of meats. There were also a variety of dim sum portions. Fresh juices and spirits were in no short supply. I particularly liked the garlic crackers. Of course there were prawn and vegetable crackers for anyone wanting to select them. The garlic crackers were something new and they didn’t disappoint.
While people dined, the attendants came around with unique treats like wasabi fries. They also brought around some finger licking chicken lollipops in sweet and sour sauce. Next was a round of vegetable tempura. The food kept flowing and after a point it was time to resist as we were filled to the brim.

Of course no meal is ever complete without dessert. An attendant came around with a golden bell calling for everyone’s attention as he carried ice cream sticks. Apart from this, the dessert section of the brunch looked rather tempting with chocolate mousse, a vanilla yoghurt dessert and vanilla ice-cream. Time seemed to have just flown because it was soon 3pm.
A combination of great service and good food left a permanent smile on our faces. This is one venue I will definitely return to. Remember to simply carry an appetite.
