Crisol - fusion food in a contemporary setting

When we arrived outside Crisol restaurant, we had to pause to pay attention to the stunning decor that made up the facade. It is tucked away on University Road in Sharjah and offers a pleasant change from the ordinary.

Serving a fusion of Spanish, American and Mexican delights, I'd definitely reccomend going with an empty stomach. Brown panels and patches of green make up the spacious interiors which are dimly lit in gold lighting. Getting to the starters was easy. We were given a choice of a few dishes and we chose Trash can Nachos. Yes, the name did get me puzzled for a moment but I soon realised these cheesy, crunchy starters were definitely worth ordering. Topped with veggies and not overtly cheezy, the nacho portion is large enough for more than one.

Dangerous and Sand Blaster Sliders were part of the main course

We then tasted the Rocket Shrimp which clearly is in a league of its own. Shrimp in a spicy sauce mounted on a plate and drizzled with a tangy sauce - this was tough to eat all at one go. We enjoyed the generous portions. What was particularly lovely is that we were here on UAE National Day and so this dish was decorated with a UAE flag. Our final appetizer was Texas Fried Chicken which was not bad but clearly not as exciting as the first two dishes.

We also ordered a Cuban salad which was a crunchy mix of chicken pieces, tossed with cabbage, a bunch of greens and noodles.
For the mains we chose sliders called, Dangerous. Decked in a bright red bun the inside was filled with chicken, lettuce, cheddar and pepper jack cheese. Delicious.
The Sand Blaster is a juicy beef slider with cheese, lettuce, onion, homemade picked and sauce. The sliders were both rich in flavour.

We tried a neutralizer that was unique

When it came to desert, Crisol deserved a standing ovation. Its famous Crisol Hit is tapped gently on the head when a heavenly chocolaty syrup oozes out. A chocolate brownie layered with ice cream and drizzled with hot chocolate, it is definitely something you'd want to try out.
