Hello readers, Image by talented son, Daniel Mathias  If you are stuck with vegetarian options (and I know we all are sometimes), this is something that I love to cook.  What is lobia. Well its a bean with a black dot in the centre. Its easily available in the market. Stores well and is full of good protein.  All it takes is a few basic ingredients. Most of the time I scout for recipes online. Make them my own. I often ask my sisters, aunts and have some recipes tucked away. At Ab:original we share. Lobia or black eyed bean is made in various ways. Ingredients: Black eyed beans or peas (called lobia in Hindi) – 1 cup Green chillies – 2 Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp Oil – 2 tsp (I used coconut oil) Salt – to taste Hing – asafoetida - a pinch Medium sized tomato How to Make Abigail’s Black Eyed Beans 1. Comfort for mind and body

The candle wax treatment at Tips and Toes is just what you need during a hectic week. The massage begins with a few warm stretches of the body. You are then moisturised with natural oils which are infused with candle wax. The candle gently burns in to a jar of cream and oil. These have immediate calming effects. Much to my surprise the hot wax doesn't sting. You take a few moments to get used to the warm oil being rubbed to your tired limbs. My masseuse has a permanent smile on her face. But that is not the only reason for me to find her endearing. She knows how to massage the body with the right amount of pressure. The massage lasts for 75 minutes. Just the right amount of time for you to drift away in to a bubble of relaxation. As the treatment ends, I feel the difference in my arms which have a sudden glow. No it isn't the candle that's rubbed off its light on me. I am just glowing from the benefits of getting a good massage.

Children definitely from heaven

Watched a remarkable movie on the weekend. The kind that lingers with you long after the final credits have rolled. It didn't even have any special effects or mind blowing action sequences. But it did hit home. Children of heaven is the story of two young Iranian children who's world revolves around the simple persuits of life. Nine-year-old Ali and his younger sister Zahra realise that their parents are struggling to survive. Their simple world is devoid of cell phones, Ipods and even coloured television. In his attempt to help his mother with the groceries, Ali manages to misplace Zahra's shoes, her only pair to wear to school. Ali tries in vain to find the missing shoes but is left with the only option of offering his own sneakers to his sister. Though the shoes are too big for Zahra, she too has no other choice but to wear them.
