Relaxation from head to toe

When invited to try the 'Offer of the month' at Tips and Toes Saloon, barely a month before we relocated, I felt like it was a warm welcome saying, ‘Welcome to our city.’

Probably the reason I was the ever eager client who showed up at 9.15 a.m. for a 10 a.m. appointment. Thankfully there were a few other store
s open at Al Fardan Centre, Sharjah. I was able to somehow pass the time and enter the saloon at the top of the hour.
Greeted by a sea of smiles and a dozen or so staff members who welcomed me to choose a seat for my treatment, I was soon completely overwhelmed by the view. The saloon faces the Buhaira Corniche. With one of the best views that Sharjah has to offer right in front of you, they have already managed to put clients at ease.

My treatment was done by Chirstina and Charlyn, two efficient ladies who didn't drown my mani-pedi session in small talk among each other. Nope, they diligently worked their way through the Vanilla-Caramel mani-pedi session which they said has moisturising properties. "It has Vitamin E and is high in anti-oxidants. Besides it also smells really good," says Charlyn.

I am pleasantly surprised to find that this saloon is about 10 years old. With branches as far as Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai and Ras Khaimah (21 in total), they seem to be fairly spread out. They also offer a range of body treatments, massages, hair treatments and all the other services one comes to expect from a saloon/spa of this nature. Incidentally Sharjah’s branch is the first for the company.

My treatment begins with the usual cleaning and buffering of nails. Stage two is more relaxing as a vanilla-based body scrub is used to remove any dead skin. The skin is lathered in a soothing mask that feels softer than butter (yes there is such a thing). You are then mummified as the skin is covered in cling wrap for 10 minutes to lock in the moisture. Once you are done, they wash off the mask and add a soothing cream to the skin. The nails are then painted with a colour of your choice and you are off to face the day, soaked in sweet smells.
I’m pretty sure to return to this sanctuary of calm. I can’t wait to try their body treatments.

The Vanilla-caramel mani-pedi costs AED 205. For more information go to www.tipsandtoes.com
